Our visit to the Ōamaru Victorian Heritage Celebrations reminded me that sustainability is not only about nature and society, but also about culture. Watching the town come alive with music, costumes, vintage bicycles and heartfelt community pride showed how heritage can bring people together and keep stories alive across generations.
